Neuraminidase inhibitors, commonly referred to as antivirals, have been subject to much debate about the effectiveness in preventing and treating influenza. ECDC convened a meeting of experts in order to review and discuss evidence regarding antivirals.
The aim of this side event was to develop and support effective country and regional responses to further improve the current HIV and tuberculosis situations and reduce their impacts on human lives, economy and society.

A pandemic is the rapid spread of a new human influenza around the world. Influenza pandemics happen when a new strain of a flu virus appears which can infect humans, to which most people have no immunity and which can transmit efficiently from human to human.
From 8 to 10 October, senior public health professionals from 19 European countries participated in the third ‘training of trainers’ workshop organised by ECDC in Stockholm on “Development of public health programmes for prevention and control of seasonal influenza”.
