Dr. Piotr Kramarz, originally from Poland, has been appointed as Chief Scientist for the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), starting as of today.
On 28 and 29 May 2024, ECDC convened the inaugural meeting of the Epidemic Intelligence Network in Rome, Italy. The meeting was hosted by the Italian National Institute of Health. The aim of the meeting was to define the priorities and activities of the newly created Epidemic Intelligence Network.
This framework describes the building blocks and actions that ECDC will use to support and EU/EEA countries and the European Commission to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
The Management Board approves and monitors the implementation of ECDC’s work programme and budget, it adopts its annual report and accounts - all in all, it acts as the governing body of the Centre.
From 22-23 May a team of experts from ECDC, the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety and the European Food Safety Authority completed a visit to Kosovo to support the country’s efforts to develop the One Health Country Roadmap on antimicrobial resistance.
