ECDC visit to the MediPIET Training Site in Moldova

On 15 and 16 May 2024, staff from the European Centre of Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) visited the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) in Moldova to assess its capacity as a training site for the MediPIET programme.

The visiting team from ECDC met with the state secretary of the Ministry of Health, Angela Paraschiv, the Director of ANSP, Nicolae Jelamschi, the representative of the Department of Preventive Medicine from the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu", Diana Spataru, the deputy director of the ANSP, Veaceslav Guțu, the MediPIET National Focal Point, Alina Druc, and Heads of Directorates and Departments of the ANSP. 

Discussions focused on the impact of the MediPIET programme in Moldova, the structure of the MediPIET curriculum, and the role and responsibilities of scientific coordinators, supervisors and fellows. The visiting team met with the current fellows, to review their progress and planning of assignments towards the acquisition of competencies necessary for their graduation. In addtion, the ECDC team met with alumni and prospective fellows. 

Site visits are an important component of the MediPIET programme’s commitment to continuous improvement and quality assurance. The insights gathered during these visits will inform strategic decisions and further strengthen the program's impact in the region.
