In 2024, and as of 31 of January, approximately 10 000 CHIKVD cases and no deaths have been reported worldwide. A total of eight countries reported CHIKVD cases from the America (6) and Asia (2).

The majority of countries reporting high CHIKVD burden are from the Americas, in South and Central America. The countries reporting the highest number of cases are Brazil (14 189), Paraguay (973), Bolivia (60), and Colombia (13). Outside of the Americas, CHIKVD cases were reported in Asia from Timor Leste (195) and Malaysia (1).

No autochthonous cases of CHIKVD have been reported in Europe in 2023.

CHIKVD-associated deaths were reported from Brazil (3).
