Since the beginning of the 2018 transmission season, as of 19 July 2018, 19 human cases have been reported in EU/EEA Member States by Greece (12), Italy (4), Romania (2) and Hungary (1). Twenty-nine human cases have been reported in neighbouring EU countries, all by Serbia.

This is the sixth report of the 2017–18 influenza season. As of week 25/2018, nearly 239 000 influenza detections across the WHO European Region have been reported.
According to the latest Communicable Diseases Threats Report (CDTR) with the most recent data collected through epidemic intelligence, Romania (4 317), France (2 588), Greece (2 238) and Italy (1 716) have reported the highest number of cases in 2018. To date, 31 deaths have also been reported across the region in 2018.
