ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED) visits ECDC
From 10 to 12 September 2025, ECDC welcomed a delegation from the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED), who visited the Agency for a benchmarking exercise.
ACPHEED, which is being set up by the ASEAN Member States with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will serve as a regional hub to strengthen Southeast Asia’s regional capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to the threat of infectious diseases.
The delegation included representatives from the 10 ASEAN Member States (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand Viet Nam) and from JICA.
During the visit, the delegation met ECDC experts to discuss a range of topics including governance, collaboration with the Member States, resource management, surveillance, preparedness and response, and workforce development to inform ACPHEED’s operational framework and long-term strategy.
ECDC is looking forward to continuing the collaboration with ACPHEED with a view to strengthening global health security.
