On Monday, 10 October, Andrea Ammon participated in a panel at the 14th edition of the Luxembourg Expert Forum on the development of the Union Law.

Andrea contributed to the session on international challenges for the Union in the context of the pandemic, along with other speakers from Germany and the European Commission.

This session tackled matters such as possibilities for the EU to practically guarantee the exercise of fundamental freedoms during pandemics, the role of the Commission and the EU judiciary, what measures can and should be taken, and the importance of international health protection in the future. Another discussion topic was whether the legal bases of the Lisbon Treaty in the area of health policy should undergo further development.

This was an annual event organised by the European Court of Justice. This year’s forum focused on ‘The European Union facing international challenges − Perspectives for the EU's improved ability to act’.
