EU-African Union conference
On 20 March 2024, ECDC Director Andrea Ammon attended a high-level ministerial conference on “Deepening the EU-AU partnership on Global Health for Equitable Access: towards African health sovereignty”, taking place at the Egmont Palace in Brussels. The conference was jointly organised with the European Commission, the African Union and Africa CDC.
The ECDC Director made a short intervention during a roundtable on One Health and participated in the official launch of four Team Europe Initiatives (One Health, Digital Health, Public Health Institutes, and Social Protection) during the “High-level dialogue on next steps for the AU-EU Partnership in Global Health”.
On 21 March the ECDC Director attended the Second High-Level Steering Committee on the AU-EU Health Partnership, taking place at the Centre Borschette in Brussels. The ECDC Director co-chaired the “Flagship on One Health/Health Security” session alongside Africa CDC Director General Dr Jean Kaseya.
