ECDC/2025/MVP/0003-DPR/250587 - Policy study on strategies to increase vaccine uptake in adult populations
The purpose of this contract is to conduct a scientific study on different strategies to increase vaccination uptake in older age groups. Vaccination is traditionally seen as mainly a paediatric - childhood public health intervention. Nonetheless, an increasing number of vaccines is now available with indications specifically for adults, and combined vaccination strategies in children and adults can help sustain disease prevention goals. This study is aimed to identify and assess factors that national immunisation programmes in the EU/EEA Member States can take into account to design effective adult vaccination programmes and increase uptake in this population. The results are expected to help inform policy-makers and immunisation programme managers on programmatic and communications-related aspects needed to strengthen their efforts.
