Risk assessment guidelines for diseases transmitted on aircraft (RAGIDA) - Part 2: Operational guidelines for assisting the evaluation of risk for transmission by disease
In June 2009, ECDC convened a technical expert consultation that focused on tuberculosis, new emerging airborne diseases (e.g. SARS) and meningococcal infections. This consultation was the second of a two-part process intended to assist national authorities in the EU Member States in the assessment of risks associated with the transmission of various infectious agents on board airplanes.
The first part contains more general guidelines and was published as an ECDC Technical Report “Risk assessment guidelines for diseases transmitted on aircraft”.
Rapid outbreak assessment: Multi-country outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes sequence type 6 infections linked to ready-to-eat meat products
26 Nov 2019 - Twenty-one cases of Listeria monocytogenes IVb sequence type ST 6 infections have been reported from the Netherlands (19 cases) and Belgium (two cases). This outbreak was identified using whole genome sequencing (WGS) analysis.
Outbreak of carbapenemase-producing (NDM-1 and OXA-48) and colistin-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae ST307, north-east Germany, 2019
28 Oct 2019 - Germany has reported an outbreak of carbapenemase-producing (NDM-1 and OXA-48) and colistin-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae sequence type (ST) 307. As of 21 October 2019, 17 patients in three hospitals and one rehabilitation clinic in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania in north-east Germany have been affected. Six of the 17 cases presented with clinical symptoms of infection, while 11 were identified as be carriers.
Rapid risk assessment: Zika virus disease in Var department, France
16 Oct 2019 - On 1 October 2019, a case of locally acquired Zika virus (ZIKV) disease in France (Hyères city, Var department) was laboratory confirmed. To date, and based on ECDC’s epidemiological assessment, the probability of ongoing vector-borne local transmission in Hyères (and surrounding areas) is considered very low because current evidence does not indicate the existence of a more extensive cluster of ZIKV cases.
