EU/EEA NITAG collaboration for the sharing and synthesis of scientific evidence on EU authorised vaccines and their use in immunisation practices
In most European countries, recommendations around vaccines and their use are based upon evidence-based recommendations made by national immunisation technical advisory groups (NITAGs) or other equivalent expert committees. At the ECDC Advisory Forum meeting held in May 2018, a new project aiming to develop an EU/EEA-wide collaboration for the summarising/collated synthesis and exchange of scientific evidence on vaccines and immunisation practices was endorsed.
The main aim of the upcoming meeting is to discuss the scope of this new collaboration, obtain agreement around the proposed framework for the collaboration, and if agreement is reached also decide upon the first topics to be addressed during the 3-year pilot phase.
During the inaugural meeting the group will be joined by experts in mathematical modelling to discuss the potential role of modelling in support of vaccine and immunisation practice assessments.
