The map shows the current known distribution of Aedes albopictus in Europe at ‘regional’ administrative unit level, as of April 2026.
In the EU/EEA, Aedes albopictus is known to be established in 384 units in the following countries: Austria (3 units out of 9), Belgium (4/11), Bulgaria (26/28), Croatia (21/21), Cyprus (1/1), France (83/101), Germany (12/38), Greece (48/52), Hungary (17/20), Italy (107/107), Malta (1/2), Portugal (5/26), Romania (10/42), Slovakia (1/8), Slovenia (12/12), and Spain (33/59).
This is an expansion of 14 units in Bulgaria (1), France (2), Greece (7), Portugal (1), and Romania (3), compared to the previous update (June 2025). In other countries, new establishments were observed in four units, in Armenia (1), and North Macedonia (3).
Since the previous update, there were no new regional units where introductions were recorded.
