ECDC hosts the Technical Working Group of Africa CDC’s Central Data Repository
From 23 to 26 September 2025, ECDC hosted at its premises in Stockholm, Sweden, a delegation of experts from Africa CDC, who are members of Africa CDC’s Technical Working Group for the operationalisation of its Central Data Repository.
During the four-day visit, ECDC experts from various units shared their experiences in operating systems for processing different types of data. Presentations covered ECDC’s existing platforms, IT infrastructure, analytical tools and data-driven outputs.
The exchanges focused on the entire data life cycle from input to output, highlighting data processing, user management, the legal mandates governing these systems, and the underlying tools and infrastructure that support them.
The visit also served as an opportunity to explore areas for future collaboration, particularly in the management of indicator-based and event-based surveillance data.
This engagement was part of the broader Work Package 2 of the Africa CDC – ECDC Partnership Project, which aims to strengthen surveillance, data management and epidemic intelligence to bolster public health capacities across Africa.
