Active threats and outbreaks
Transmission is still widespread in the EU/EEA even though most countries are experiencing stable or decreasing case rates. However, absolute numbers remain high, with increasing case rates among older age groups and increasing death rates in several countries. Around one third of countries are seeing increases in hospital or ICU admissions and/or occupancy due to COVID-19. This serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining public health and physical distancing measures and that these measures should not be relaxed, even in countries with decreasing trends.
