​ECDC publishes a protocol developed for the surveillance Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) to address the lack of standardised surveillance of CDI in EU Member States. This protocol prescribes the methodology, and provides the data collection tools required to achieve the objectives of European surveillance of CDIs.
This technical document has been superseded by ‘European Surveillance of Clostridium difficile infections. Surveillance protocol version 2.2’, published on 17 November 2015.
