Following the reported death of a laboratory worker in Irkutsk, Russia, from pneumonia that is suspected to be pneumonic plague, ECDC is closely monitoring the situation.
A healthcare worker from Europe based in the DRC who tested positive for Bundibugyo virus on 29 September has been medically evacuated to receive specialised care.
With the Ebola disease situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) still critical, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) is deploying experts to DRC to increase support at the epicentre of the outbreak.
