Technical guidance on seasonal influenza surveillance

This document provides guidance for the routine surveillance of respiratory viruses in the European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA), including influenza viruses. It sets out action-oriented respiratory virus surveillance objectives, outlines the epidemiological and virological surveillance systems needed to meet these objectives, and explains how surveillance data can support national and EU-level prevention and control measures. 

Reporting protocols provide guidelines on how to prepare data for submission to The European Surveillance System (TESSy). All pertinent deadlines are listed, and recent changes to the metadata summarised.
