From evidence to practice – successful models for improved testing, linkage to and retention in care for migrant populations, related to HIV, TB, viral hepatitis and STIs in the EU/EEA
This report identifies practice-based evidence within models of care that improve testing, linkage to care, and/or retention in care for HIV, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis B and C and/or sexually transmitted infections among migrant populations in the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA). It highlights approaches that have had an impact in real-world settings, especially those that address the specific needs and barriers faced by migrant populations.
Objectives
The main objective of this report is to support countries in the EU/EEA in reducing the number of undiagnosed and untreated HIV, viral hepatitis, TB and STIs in migrant populations who are at high risk of contracting these diseases. By identifying and gathering models of good practice to increase testing and/or linkage to care and/or retention in care among migrant populations, this report provides a better understanding of the models implemented across the EU/EEA and highlights facilitators and barriers in addressing migrant populations.
This report summarises the methods of the call for models of good practice, describes the selection and evaluation process of submissions, presents the models of good practice as well as the results of which models qualified as best practice across the EU/EEA.
