World Field Epidemiology Day: celebrating those protecting public health on the field
ECDC supports World Epidemiology Day and highlights the importance of field epidemiologists in providing decision makers with information to develop effective health interventions and programs. This is based on the knowledge acquired through engagement with communities at the local level, and in strengthening public health policies.
World Field Epidemiology Day is marked for the first time in 2021 and is coordinated by TEPHINET, the global network of Field Epidemiology Training Programs. The ECDC Fellowship Programme, including EPIET and EUPHEM, is part of TEPHINET.
ECDC also coordinates the Mediterranean and Black Sea Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (MediPIET) as part of the EU Initiative on Health Security.
