Review on leishmaniasis in the European Union and its neighbourhood

Ref.: NP/2020/DPR/11745 | Media type: ex-ante publicity
Deadline:

ECDC is planning to conduct a review on leishmaniasis in the European Union and its neighbourhood (i.e. EU candidate and potential candidate countries1 and the European Neighbourhood Policy partner countries2).

This review will inform ECDC about the need for future activities related to the disease.

The review should cover all clinical forms of the disease in humans and in animals.

Based on a (non-systematic) literature review and a questionnaire sent to stakeholders in the countries covered by the scope of this review, the contractor will prepare a report describing, in humans and in animals:

- The current epidemiological status;

- Surveillance and control strategies in place;

- Access to medicines and diagnostics;

- Drivers for emergence;

- Estimated risk (likelihood x impact), based on a qualitative risk analysis;

- Challenges and recommendations.

The list of topics to be covered is preliminary and may be modified prior to publication of the request for offer.

This call is prepared in coordination with the European Food Safety Authority and the World Health Organization for the European region.
