VectorNet Annual Meeting 2016
The annual meeting of VectorNet, the European Network for collecting data on vectors, gathered 70 experts in medical and veterinarian entomology and public and animal health from Europe and countries around the Mediterranean Basin.
The overall objective of the meeting was to present the activities within the project, since its start in 2014, as well as the plans for next period: 2016, the discussions focused in particular on the strategy of entomological field collection for 2016 and the presentation and review of the enhanced Vector-Net tool.
VectorNet is an initiative jointly funded by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC, Stockholm, Sweden) and the European Food and Safety Authority (EFSA, Parma, Italy).
Within the project a network of experts, supported by ECDC and EFSA, maintains a database with data on the geographic distribution of important vectors for European and Mediterranean countries, and disseminates this data through the publication of a series of distribution maps of the main vectors in Europe, on a quarterly basis.
ECDC Regional meeting on West Nile fever real time surveillance and exchange of good practices on vector-borne diseases
2 Dec 2015 to 3 Dec 2015 - This was the first regional meeting on West Nile fever real time surveillance and good practices on vector-borne diseases. The overall objective was to support the exchange of experience between EU and non-EU neighbouring countries on the surveillance of West Nile fever and the lessons learnt since 2011.
Second meeting of the Emerging and Vector-borne Diseases (EVD) Network
28 Apr 2015 to 29 Apr 2015 - April 2015, ECDC organised the second EVD network meeting, with the participation of the EVD Network, the network coordination committee.
First Annual General Meeting of VectorNet
27 Jan 2015 to 29 Jan 2015 - The First Annual meeting of the new joint ECDC-EFSA project ‘VectorNet’, the European network for sharing data on the geographic distribution of arthropod vectors, transmitting human and animal disease agents, was held on 27-29 January 2015 in Parma.
