The workshop “Detection and assessment of public health threats in the European Union” was part of capacity building component within the ongoing technical cooperation framework for the EU Candidate Countries and Potential Candidates (CC/PC) , ECDC organised a training workshop for public health experts in CC/PCC to support capacity of these countries to participate in the ECDC activities.

The workshop “Detection and assessment of public health threats in the European Union” is a part of capacity building component within the ongoing technical cooperation framework for the EU Candidate Countries and Potential Candidates (CC/PC) , ECDC is organising a training workshop for public health experts in CC/PCC to support capacity of these countries to participate in the ECDC activities. The participants will learn among others to: assess the magnitude of an event in terms of severity, extension in time and in space, affected population, probability of spread, existence of control measures, etc. apply existing criteria and algorithms for assessing a threat including for example categories or levels of risk, taking into account all relevant factors, particularly its probability of spread write situation reports and rapid risk assessments of public health threats
