The weekly influenza surveillance overview is a collection of timely and relevant information regarding influenza activity in Europe. It provides key statistical data on a variety of issues including the following: sentinel surveillance of influenza like illness (ILI) and acute respiratory illness (ARI); virological surveillance; aggregate numbers of pandemic H1N1 2009; hospital surveillance of severe acute respiratory infection (SARI); mortality surveillance; and qualitative reporting. Seasonal influenza - Annual Epidemiological Report for 2019–2020
6 Aug 2020 - Influenza activity started in week 45/2019 and returned to baseline levels in week 13/2020, earlier than previous seasons. Influenza viruses circulated at high levels between weeks 52/2019 and 10/2020 (based on increased proportions (40% and above) of sentinel specimens testing positive for influenza viruses). This is comparable to previous seasons.
Influenza virus characterisation - Summary Europe, June 2020
23 Jul 2020 - This is the eighth report for the 2019–20 influenza season. As of week 25/2020, 164 883 influenza detections across the WHO European Region had been reported; 73% type A viruses, with A(H1N1)pdm09 prevailing over A(H3N2), and 27% type B viruses, with 4 479 (98%) of 4 568 ascribed to a lineage being B/Victoria.
Hepatitis C - Annual Epidemiological Report for 2018
22 Jul 2020 - In 2018, 37 527 cases of hepatitis C were reported in 29 EU/EEA Member States. The number is 37 427 when countries that only reported acute cases are excluded, which corresponds to a crude rate of 8.8 cases per 100 000 population.
