Weekly influenza surveillance overview, 6 May - Week 17

Based on influenza activity, the 2010/11 season is now drawing to a close in European countries.For week 17/2011, all 25 countries reporting on influenza intensity experienced low activity.During week 17/2011, a single sentinel sample was positive for influenza virus.Two countries reported a total of eight hospitalised cases with a severe acute respiratory infection, none of which were due to influenza virus infection.
