The ECDC Communicable Disease Threats Report (CDTR) is a weekly bulletin for epidemiologists and health professionals about active public health threats. This issue covers the period 1–7 January 2017 and includes updates on polio, zika virus and the influenza 2016–2017 season.
Poliomyelitis - Annual Epidemiological Report for 2018
14 Sep 2021 - The WHO European Region was declared polio-free in 2002. Neither wild-type nor vaccine-type viruses were notified in the WHO European Region in 2018, but the risk of importation and subsequent transmission remain high in some countries.
Zika virus disease - Annual Epidemiological Report for 2019
24 Mar 2021 - For 2019, in the EU/EEA countries, 71 cases of Zika virus (ZIKV) disease were reported. Five cases of ZIKV disease were reported to have been locally-acquired, three autochthonous vector-borne cases, one case of sexual transmission and one case of non-mosquito borne transmission. 92% of cases of ZIKV disease with known importation status were from returning travellers.
