The training programme included a module on safe use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

The regional training was greatly appreciated by 47 participants from law enforcement, public health and civil protection authorities representing 13 EU Member States - Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, plus Iceland.

Participants had the opportunity to increase their knowledge about biological threats and the main principles of protection from biological hazards. The programme included a practical module on use of personal protective equipment, based on the ECDC tutorial on “Safe use of personal protective equipment in the treatment of infectious diseases of high consequences”. This train-the-trainer course  provided also an opportunity for experts to discuss, within a multi-sectoral and international environment, the current key challenges in preparedness and response to biological incidents.

EUROPOL and the ECDC will continue to strengthen the cooperation with further initiatives in the very complex and challenging field of biological threats.
