Expert consultation on West Nile virus infection 2011

This second consultation meeting of experts on West Nile virus infection was organised to obtain an overview of the changing epidemiology of West Nile virus in Europe during 2010, with the idea of proposing recommendations for improved public health preparedness and local response during outbreaks. Some of the key outcomes of the meeting were the proposal of a clear definition for an affected area and agreement among experts to develop and share common plans and protocols in the areas of preparedness, diagnosis, epidemiology, veterinary medicine and entomology.
