The three-day training took place from 6–8 May 2025 at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità in Rome, Italy and brought together 50 public health professionals from the EU/EEA, Western Balkans, and nominees from Africa CDC and MediPIET.

The primary objective of the event was to equip non-modellers with a foundational understanding of mathematical modelling concepts, emphasizing how such models can inform public health decision-making, their limitations, and effective communication of modelling results.

The course was facilitated by experts from ECDC and EU Member States, focusing on the usage of mathematical modelling for assessing and anticipating threats in public health.
