The workshop took place between 27 and 30 August and brought together a range of stakeholders, including representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Kingdom’s Health Security Agency (UKHSA), and Germany’s Robert Koch Institute (RKI), as well as fellows from the previous cohort of the fellowship.

ECDC's contribution to the workshop focused on content, curriculum development, and instructional design. Two ECDC experts participated, sharing their insights and expertise to help make the training materials both relevant and effective.

The workshop involved a thorough review of the existing syllabus and training modules. Participants worked together to identify areas in which the content could be improved and made more accessible to learners. Feedback from the previous cohort of fellows was also taken into account to ensure that the training materials meet their specific needs and expectations.

The outcome of the workshop was a revised syllabus and updated training modules that are better equipped to prepare young public health professionals to respond to and manage emergencies in Africa. ECDC's involvement in this important initiative highlights its commitment to supporting global public health capacity and strengthening the Africa CDC partnership.
