ECDC at European Health Forum Gastein

On 25-26 September the ECDC Director, Dr Pamela Rendi-Wagner, and the Head of Unit Disease Programmes, Ole Heuer, participated in the 2024 European Health Forum Gastein, in Bad Hofgastein, Austria.

On 25 September, Dr Pamela Rendi-Wagner participated in a press meeting with the Austrian Health Minister, Johannes Rauch, and Clemens Martin Auer, the President of European Health Forum Gastein. The topic of the meeting was “Politics and health - What to do about the crisis of confidence and how to better prepare for the next pandemic?. The focus of Pamela’s intervention was The lessons from Corona for politics & institutions; preparations for the next pandemic; current topics and further ECDC plans”.

Furthermore, Dr Pamela Rendi-Wagner participated in the Gastein Policy Dialogue: What can the European public health community do to help support and rebuild Ukraine?.

Ole Heuer participated in a lunch session 'Prevention, preparedness and response planning for health emergencies in the context of 3 D’s – Democratics, Demographics and Digitalisation” organised by the European Commission.

On 26 September, ECDC organised a session "Not lowering our guard for the next pandemic - A multi-sectoral One Health approach to preparedness", moderated by Ole Heuer and with a keynote by the Director.
