Nearly 7 000 excess deaths from tuberculosis occurred in the WHO European Region from 2020 - 2022. This increased mortality would not have occurred if TB diagnosis and treatment efforts had not been disrupted during the pandemic.
Urgent attention and concerted efforts are needed to address the substantial increases in STI cases. We must prioritise sexual health education, expand access to testing and treatment services, and combat the stigma associated with STIs.
