On 24 March we mark World TB Day to raise awareness and advocate for efforts to eliminate TB. According to the latest report, TB mortality has gone down, but TB is second only to COVID-19 as an infectious disease that kills, and drug resistance is a major concern. Ending tuberculosis is a race against time and drug resistance.
In low-incidence regions such as Europe, a majority of TB cases occur due to the progression of latent TB infection (LTBI) to active TB disease. Addressing this threat, ECDC has published guidance on the management of LTBI targeted for EU/EEA countries.
