Resistance levels still high in bacteria causing foodborne infections

News story - 8 Apr 2021

A sizeable proportion of Salmonella and Campylobacter bacteria is still resistant to antibiotics commonly used in humans and animals, as in previous years, says a report released today by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

Assessment tool for joint One Health country visits in relation to antimicrobial resistance

Technical report - 30 Mar 2021

This updated assessment tool, which outlines the indicators for human health and the joint parts of the country visits, should be used in conjunction with respective EC assessment tools for the veterinary and environmental sectors. The updated assessment tool was drafted after an expert consultation meeting in Stockholm on 5–6 February 2020 and finalised after review by the participating experts.

Risk Assessment: Emergence of hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae ST23 carrying carbapenemase genes in EU/EEA countries

Risk assessment - 17 Mar 2021

This document assesses the risk associated with the dissemination of carbapenemase-producing hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKp) of sequence type (ST) 23 and other STs in the European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA).

European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD) 2020

Campaign
18 Nov 2020 - 24 Nov 2020
ECDC

European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD) is a European health initiative coordinated by ECDC. It provides a platform and support for national campaigns on the prudent use of antibiotics in the EU/EEA and is marked each year across Europe on 18 November. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, EAAD will this year consist of a entirely digital campaign.
