EU and AU sign partnership to scale up preparedness for health emergencies
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is today launching a new four-year partnership initiative in order to enhance mutual engagement and contribute to durably strengthening Africa CDC capacities in preparedness and response to health threats.

New EU Initiative on Health Security for the EU neighbours
A five-year agreement to implement a new EU Initiative on Health Security to enhance public health preparedness and response capacities of the European Union enlargement and the European Neighbourhood Policy partner countries has been signed between ECDC and the European Commission. The total funding will be 9 million euros.

Country visit to Ireland to discuss policies relating to antimicrobial resistance
ECDC and the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Food Safety jointly carried out this country visit to Ireland from 7 to 11 October 2019. The visit was carried out following the invitation from the competent authorities to assist them in the development and implementation of their national strategy for tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) based on a 'One Health' approach.
