As of 1 February 2021, European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) Member States and EU-neighbouring countries reported 336 locally-acquired human cases of West Nile virus infections in 2020. The last case of this transmission season was reported by the Netherlands in week 47.

Epidemiological update: Measles - monitoring European outbreaks, 14 July 2017
Romania has been experiencing a large outbreak of measles since February 2016. Cases continue to be reported despite ongoing response measures implemented at national level through reinforced vaccination activities. Between 1 January 2016 and 07 July 2017, Romania reported 7 647 measles cases, including 31 deaths.

Epidemiological update: West Nile virus transmission season in Europe, 2016
In 2016, 225 human cases of West Nile fever have been reported in the EU: most cases were reported in Romania and Italy, Hungary and Romania reported a significant increase in number of cases compared to the previous season. Cyprus detected its ever first human case of West Nile fever.
