The aim of this document is to present the findings of a survey of EU/EEA countries carried out to ascertain
surveillance practices implemented to document and report suspected reinfection cases.

In order to monitor progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 target to combat viral hepatitis, this report provides data on hepatitis B and C prevention, incidence, diagnosis, treatment, cure/viral suppression, and mortality in European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) countries with data collected in 2019.

This surveillance protocol seeks to enable countries to report their existing national surveillance data on COVID-19 in LTCFs easily and regularly. This will enable ECDC to report national trends in the EU/EEA, with the aim of providing all EU/EEA countries with timely information to support their preparedness activities for LTCFs.

This report assesses the current status of the EU/EEA and the UK COVID-19 laboratory response based on a short survey sent to all Member States and the UK.

Urgent action is required to improve efforts to prevent hepatitis B and C infections in the EU/EEA and the UK if the region is to meet the 2020 targets for the elimination of viral hepatitis as a serious threat to public health. Significant gaps in the reported data in relation to prevalence and prevention of HBV and HCV in EU/EEA and the UK present a major challenge to monitoring progress towards the targets for elimination of hepatitis.

This document provides principles of surveillance, infection prevention and control (IPC) and management of COVID-19 infection in prisons in European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries and the United Kingdom (UK).

The methodology presented in this document provides a way to efficiently estimate COVID-19 prevalence by analysing the results of pooled RT-PCR tests, without the need to identify individual test results. The statistical foundation of the methodology is explained in detail.

HIV combination prevention is an approach that brings together single prevention initiatives into a comprehensive programme. This approach considers that the offer of multiple evidence-based interventions in a comprehensive programme will have a greater impact on HIV transmission than investing in a single strategy. In this report we
present and test the feasibility of a novel approach to monitoring the implementation of combination HIV prevention at national level.
