West Nile virus in Europe in 2021 - infections among humans and outbreaks among equids and/or birds, updated 29 July 2021
Since the beginning of the 2021 transmission season and as of 29 July 2021, EU/EEA countries have reported one human case of WNV infection in Italy and no deaths. EU-neighbouring countries have reported no human cases of WNV infection. Since the beginning of the 2021 transmission season, one outbreak among equids and no outbreaks among birds have been reported by EU/EEA countries. The outbreak among equids was reported by Spain.
