Around half a million men who have sex with men in the EU need PrEP but cannot access it
This estimate on the “PrEP gap” in Europe was published in a paper in Eurosurveillance stating that 500 000 men who have sex with men in the European Union currently cannot access HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), despite being very likely to use it.

EMIS-2017 – The European Men-Who-Have-Sex-With-Men Internet Survey

HIV infection and AIDS - Annual Epidemiological Report for 2017
This report is based on HIV surveillance data reported by 30 Member States of the European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) (all except Germany) and AIDS data reported by 28 EU/EEA countries (all except Belgium, Germany and Sweden) for 2017. All countries annually report case-based data to the TESSy HIV/AIDS database in accordance with standard EU case definitions . The database is jointly coordinated by ECDC and the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

HIV Estimates Accuracy Tool manual
The HIV Estimates Accuracy Tool is an R-based application that uses statistical methods to allow for adjusted estimates from HIV surveillance data taking into account the issues of missing data and reporting delay. While it does not replace the knowledge of data analysis with adjustments, it is intended for routine application in surveillance as no complex programming skills are needed.
