Cases of salmonellosis and campylobacteriosis have remained stable over the past five years, although listeriosis is on the rise. In 2017, there was an average of 100 food- and waterborne outbreaks per week.
Zoonotic diseases: progress has stalled
There were only minor fluctuations in reported cases of three main zoonotic diseases in the European Union (EU) last year compared with 2016.

The report presents the results of the zoonoses monitoring activities carried out in 2013 in 32 European countries:eg 28 Member States (MS) and four non-Member States (non-MS) European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries.

ECDC and EFSA have just launched the annual report on zoonoses and food-borne outbreaks in the European Union for 2009. The report shows that Salmonella cases in humans fell by 17% in 2009, marking a decrease for the fifth consecutive year
