Organisation of vector surveillance and control in Europe

Technical report - 13 Dec 2021

This report aims to provide an overview of how vector surveillance and control is organised in EU/EEA countries, EU enlargement policy countries, European Neighbourhood Policy partner countries and the UK, of which legal frameworks for vector surveillance and control are in place, of who is responsible for making decisions about and who is responsible for implementing the vector surveillance and control.

A spatial modelling method for vector surveillance

Technical report - 14 Nov 2019

One important aspect of preparedness for vector borne diseases is the surveillance of the introduction, establishment and spread of the main disease vectors. This document describes a methodology to estimate the vector distribution status for those NUTS3 units for which observations are not yet available. These estimates are produced with spatial modelling techniques, using the currently available distributions to calibrate the modelling process.

Rapid risk assessment: Public health risks related to communicable diseases during the hajj 2019, Saudi Arabia, 9–14 August 2019

Risk assessment - 2 Jul 2019

In 2019, the hajj will take place between 9 and 14 August. The risk for EU/EEA citizens to become infected with communicable diseases during the 2019 hajj is considered low, thanks to the vaccination requirements for travelling to Makkah (Mecca) and the Saudi Arabian preparedness plans that address the management of health hazards during and after hajj.
