The ECDC Communicable Disease Threats Report (CDTR) is a weekly bulletin for epidemiologists and health professionals on active public health threats. This issue covers the period from 7-13 July 2019 and includes updates on Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), Ebola virus disease, West Nile virus infection, acute neurological syndrome in Peru and a tuberculosis case on a cruise ship in the North Sea.

This report describes the geographical and temporal distribution of multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB) using molecular typing data reported by European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) Member States for 2015 and the preceding years.

Cases of salmonellosis and campylobacteriosis have remained stable over the past five years, although listeriosis is on the rise. In 2017, there was an average of 100 food- and waterborne outbreaks per week.
