ECDC statement on the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases in Italy by the ECDC Director Andrea Ammon.: In the last 24 hours, the Italian Ministry of Health confirmed an increasing number of COVID-19 cases, including two deaths, clustered in two regions in Northern Italy as well as single cases in other regions in Northern Italy.

What do we know about the SARS-CoV-2 virus causing the COVID19 disease? How does it spread? What are the means one can take to minimise the risk of being infected? Are contacts with pets of any risk?

COVID-19 is a highly infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus. Everyone is responsible for reducing the spread by taking these simple precautions. Together we can protect ourselves and all those around us.
