This online course aims to support the EU/EEA Member States in their planning of annual seasonal influenza vaccination campaigns targeting healthcare workers.

The Advanced Vaccinology Course or ADVAC is a two-week training programme for decision-makers, including academia, industry, governmental and non-governmental agencies, in all fields related to vaccines and vaccination, vaccine trials, new vaccines, vaccination strategies and policies, vaccine-specific issues

This interdisciplinary meeting focuses on the question of which factors impact risk perceptions regarding vaccination decisions in the specific context of the Internet. Moreover, it will discuss how risks and risk negations should be communicated on the Internet.

On 3 October 2011 European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and representatives of the European Vaccine Manufacturers  met at ECDC in Stockholm for a regular scheduled meeting about the use of vaccines for prevention of seasonal and pandemic influenza. ECDC Director Marc Sprenger opened the meeting and ECDC influenza experts held different presentations, such as burden of influenza disease in the EU, risk groups for severe influenza disease, personal protective measures, pandemic influenza preparedness, seasonal influenza vaccines, communication.

ECDC has organised the “Influenza Workshop Week” to support Member States and the European Commission in implementing the 2009 EU Council Recommendation on Seasonal Influenza Immunisation.

The workshop focused on seasonal influenza vaccination in the EU and the December 2009 Council Recommendations on this subject.

ECDC organised and hosted the third ECDC-Eurovaccine on 5 December 2011 in Stockholm, Sweden.

ECDC organised a workshop aimed at the Member States not participating in the ECDC Vaccine safety network.

This meeting was jointly organised with the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) to strengthen efforts in tackling the challenges of childhood vaccination and the roles of doctors in Europe.
