World Refugee Day, held each year on 20 June, highlights the challenges of those who had to flee their homes and is an opportunity to show solidarity with displaced people throughout the world.

​​This meeting was part of a project to systematically review and synthesize the evidence on preventing infectious diseases amongst newly arriving migrants within the existing health systems.

Due to the arrival of  refugees in Greece, ECDC, the European Commission and Greek authorities continue to closely monitor the situation to rapidly identify and assess potential public health threats related to communicable diseases. 

On 23 February 2016, ECDC Acting Director, Dr Andrea Ammon, presents the Centre’s key priorities and main activities in 2015 during an Exchange of Views before the Committee of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) of the European Parliament.

​This was the first meeting of the advisory group for evidence-based guidance for the prevention of infectious diseases among newly arrived migrants in the EU/EEA.
