Course on principles and computer tools for outbreak investigations
The objective of this course was to strengthen the participants’ knowledge and skills related to the investigation of communicable disease outbreaks affecting one or several European Union countries.
Epidemiology and public health microbiology for facilitators
This course focused on methods used to teach field epidemiology through two types of activities: interactive presentations (including discussion of the instructional design, pedagogical aspects of public health microbiology, surveillance, outbreak investigation, statistics, analytical epidemiology, research and communication) and introduction to the case studies and specific group work activities.
The European Public Health Microbiology Training (EUPHEM) celebrates its fifth anniversary
The Programme for European Public Health Microbiology Training (EUPHEM) started in 2008 as a pilot two-year fellowship programme with two fellows in the first cohort. Based on the positive experience after the first two years the programme continued and expanded the number of countries and public health laboratories involved. In 2013, while 4 fellows are graduating, the new cohort starts the 2 year fellowship in nine different EUPHEM training sites.
