Cross-border health threats: assessment, evidence-based decision making & communication
The aim of the workshop was to strengthen capacity in Member States of the European Union (EU) and of the European Economic Area (EEA) in increasing and strengthening knowledge on the use of scientific evidence for assessment, decision-making and communication of cross-borders health threats in the European Union.
The objectives of the course were:
- too bring country experts together to exchange experiences and views in relation to detection, preparedness, assessment and control of public health threats with a cross-border dimension at the EU-level.
- to offer ECDC updates on core activities, recent developments, guidance and tools to attention of MS experts; and identify ways to adapt approaches to MS realities and design concrete actions to implement in their institutions of origin.
Participants of the course were designated by National Focal Points for Public Health Training in a Member State.

Public Health Functions
This Unit is responsible for the delivery of ECDC’s statutory public health functions. The Unit works closely with the disease programmes as it provides the data for the respective disease-specific outputs and needs the input from the DPs for the respective specific emergency preparedness and training needs.Read more
