How we work

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) is regulated by the "Regulation (EC) No 851/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 april 2004 establishing a European Centre for disease prevention and control". ECDC's main source of funding is a subsidy from the EU general budget.

Certain service standards and values guide the ECDC in its work. These include transparency, independence and open access to scientific content. ECDC also strives to be a quality-driven, service-minded organisation that acts as one team.
