ABSTRACT
Following a request by the Romanian government, ECDC conducted a second follow-up country visit to Romania covering HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and hepatitis B and C from 11–13 May 2011. The team consisted of representatives from ECDC and from the Romanian Ministry of Health and the National Institute for Infectious Diseases ‘Prof. Matei Bals’. The main recommendations following the visit included: continued support of the HIV programme, strengthening of the sexually transmitted infections and hepatitis B and C programmes, and establishing and strengthening antenatal screening programmes.
