On 17–18 November 2011, ECDC convened an expert group meeting on the goals, objectives and strategies for the molecular surveillance of human influenza in Europe. The meeting served as a starting point for discussions on the aims and structure of a molecular surveillance strategy for human influenza in Europe.
Based on the outcome of the meeting, a proposal will be written for the EISN and further discussed with the national surveillance contact points for influenza.
