ABSTRACT

The working group for Surveillance studies in a pandemic (SSiaP) met for the fourth time on 14–15 July 2009, in Stockholm. The final report of that meeting presents the outcomes of the discussions on addressing the challenges for surveillance during a pandemic.

Topics include experiences with the H1N1 pandemic in several countries, technical and scientific aspects of monitoring in a pandemic, and an agreement on the minimum scope of surveillance tasks that EU Member States can reasonably deliver in an epidemic of the magnitude of the current H1N1 pandemic.
